Remote server communication (at sidebar admin) is not very transparent

Description
It needs to show when remoting is working, like live search does.
Maybe disabling (via javascript) the "Publish changes" button until it's over.
A rolling thing would be nice!

If we're going to do fancy javascript to make this work, then I'm tempted to say we'll do it once we've made 1.1 compulsory.
However, I think a better option might be to do away with the server communication all until the changes are published. Again, not something I think I'm going to manage to implement in sensible time for 4.0.
So, I'm pushing this to 4.1

So, 1.1 is compulsory and guess what, r997 addresses this very issue. The UI isn't terribly pretty just yet 'cos I cannibalized the spinner from somewhere with a different background colour, but it's definitely a step along the road.
